Book Safety:
Students are reminded to be good stewards of our books by:
Checkout Policies & Procedures:
Second Grade Students may check out 2 books at a time.
Third, Fourth and Fifth Grade Students may check out 2 books at a time or 1 book and one magazine.
Overdue Books:
Books that are not renewed or returned within the checkout period are overdue. Students who have overdue books are prevented from checkouts until books are returned or replacement costs of overdue books are paid.
Lost or Damaged Books:
Books are checked out for 2 weeks and are considered overdue after that time. Students will be charged a fee for any damages to books that occurred during the check out period. If the book is lost or damaged beyond repair, the students will be required to pay the replacement cost of the book.
Scheduling Classes:
The Media Center supports best practices by operating on a partially flexible schedule. Classes are scheduled to come to the Media Center once weekly for class checkout. Grades K-5 come to the media center on a rotating schedule for a related Language Arts period. During flexible scheduling times, the Media Specialist collaboratively plans with classroom teachers to present integrated lessons that include the content standards, library skills and technology standards. Teachers schedule a time to visit the library for these lessons.

- keeping books in a safe, dry place away from younger children and pets
- handling books with clean, dry hands
- using bookmarks if needed
- keeping books in book bags
- returning damaged books to the Media Specialist..don't attempt to make repair
Checkout Policies & Procedures:
- The checkout period is 2 weeks and students may renew books upon request.
- Students are allowed to visit the media center as needed to check out books and/or take AR tests. Students are issued library cards, and they should present their library card when checking out books. It is recommended that students give their cards to their classroom teachers for safe keeping.
- The number of resources students can check-out is based on the following grade level system.
